ABOUT US

At All Saints Ponsonby, we are more than just a place of worship; we are a vibrant community dedicated to living out our faith with compassion, creativity, and joy. Situated in the heart of Ponsonby, our church is a welcoming sanctuary where everyone can find a place to belong and grow spiritually.

Worship and Service

We are an inclusive Christian community committed to thoughtful worship, compassionate care, engaging in 21st Century spirituality and ethics of local and international concern.

Music

All Saints has a long choral tradition, with the 10am Sunday service’s sung liturgy expertly led by an organist or pianist. Experience the rhythm and riches of a sung liturgy unique to All Saints Ponsonby and written by Ron Dellow.

Children

At All Saints we enjoy being part of a community that includes people of all ages.
Children are very welcome at All Saints.

Community

Our Magazines

For over 165 years, All Saints has been a cornerstone of the Ponsonby community. Since the consecration of our first church, we’ve been dedicated to serving local residents, including factory workers, soldiers, and railway and port workers.

Our parish was instrumental in establishing the district’s first public school, and the current marae-style church, designed by Prof Richard Toy in 1957, stands as a testament to our enduring legacy. Its ‘village green’ space remains a cherished spot for relaxation and community gatherings.

To ensure this tradition continues, we need your participation and support. Your contribution will help us maintain and enhance our facilities, supporting various community groups, including the All Saints Early Learning Centre and local sports, music, and arts organisations.

Join us in preserving and enriching this vital community space for future generations.

Women's Group

These gatherings offer a warm and supportive environment for women to connect, grow, and deepen their faith.

Men's Group

The Men’s Group meets once a month, usually on a 3rd Tuesday. Contact the office for details: (021) 261 1219

Prayer Group

We gather to share our joys, concerns, and hopes, lifting each other up in prayer and fellowship.

Caring for People

All Saints Early Learning Centre

All Saints early learning centre is a licensed community childcare centre that prides itself on creating an environment that is nurturing and homely, whilst encouraging children’s natural love of learning.

A Legacy of Faith and Community

All Saints Ponsonby has a rich history that reflects the enduring spirit of our community. Founded over a century ago, our church has been a cornerstone of faith, fellowship, and service in Ponsonby. From our early beginnings to our present-day vibrancy, we have continuously embraced change while holding steadfast to our core values.

The regular members of our community come from all over Auckland, although we are predominantly from the local area. We continue to grow and develop as we discover what it means to be church in the third millennium.

We take our faith seriously and, as Anglicans should, we appeal to Scripture, Reason, and Tradition to nurture our faith. This means we believe in the Bible, though we are not literalists. We pay attention to what ‘all the saints’ — scholars, mystics, and fellow pilgrims — have said about the meaning of their lives, the meanings in scripture, and how to understand church doctrine.

We try to strike a balance between having enough going on in the parish to sustain us as a community and not so much happening that we use huge amounts of energy and resources entirely on ourselves. We know how to have a good party together and we hear the call to give ourselves for others.

There is a great diversity of people at All Saints. Everyone of every age and condition is welcome. We pray that we can be as hospitable, inclusive, and compassionate as Jesus encouraged his first disciples to be so every one finds a welcome here. We don’t always agree with each other but we manage to get along, have some fun, and encourage each other as we seek to be the Body of Christ in this part of God’s creation.
